Jazz at the Club Homepage, May 2009

PayPal Sandbox, a significant coding resource
| Every year, our school's Jazz program holds a large festival in which both of our jazz bands perform for an audience in a formal environment; for the last two years, this has been the TPC golf course on the ridge. This even is jazz band's biggest fundraiser due to the charge of the
entrance tickets.
Two years ago, my band director approached me with the desire to make a website for the Jazz At The Club event with a link to a site where customers could buy tickets. I decided to take this site a step further. The site itself allows customers to buy various types of different tickets through
PayPal. When the customer clicks buy, they are redirected to PayPal's page where they can either log in or enter a credit card.
PayPal then processes the payment and sends a postback to my website. This postback lets the website know that the person has paid, sends them their ticket, and adds their payment to the payment log. This payment system has made the entire process of selling the tickets substantially easier since most people are more inclined to pay online rather than mail in checks. This website was also my first attempt at using the
PayPal API, formally known as PayPal Sandbox. This experience has helped prepare me for any future endeavors, for example, my most recent project, the CustomDXFfiles.com site will
definitely require integration of the PayPal API. |
