Wildcat Court Timelapse
Return to Home Page

The Snoqualmie Valley School District's 2009 bond allowed the school to begin construction on a new food court area which they are naming "The Wildcat Court". Our high school also set up a webcam which takes updates a picture on the web every 60 seconds. The live webcam image is embedded below:

I thought that it would be interesting to take this sequence of photos and turn it into a time lapse. I wrote a very small program in Visual Studio that runs on startup and checks the website for a new picture every 30 seconds or so and downloads it to the computer. This program is still actively running and has captured  around 3000 images since it started running. I took the first hundred or so in the sequence and made a time lapse video of roughly 2 days of work using Adobe Premiere to import the image sequence. The video is embedded below:

This program is surprisingly simple and efficient; it only requires the following lines of code

Once the construction is complete, I will likely create some sort of a finalized time lapse video of the entire several month construction process and post it on this site.
